Rapper Nelly Arrested at Casino on Drug and Insurance Charges

Rapper Nelly, whose real name is Cornell I. Haynes Jr., was arrested early Wednesday morning in Maryland Heights, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol spokesperson.

Nelly was stopped by the Missouri Gaming Commission for ID verification while leaving the Hollywood Casino around 4:45 a.m. on Wednesday. He was arrested due to an outstanding warrant for failure to obtain car insurance.

During a search of Nelly’s vehicle, officers discovered ecstasy pills, leading to additional charges for drug possession. Nelly was taken to the Maryland Heights Police Department and later released.

Representatives for Nelly have not yet responded to requests for comment.

Nelly recently completed a tour as the opening act for Janet Jackson’s “Together Again” tour, which concluded on July 30 in Phoenix. His last solo album, “Heartland,” was released in 2021. Nelly has also signed with WME for global representation and continues to make appearances in music festivals.
